Women's World Cup: Australia 3-2 Brazil, Own Goal Seals Shock Comeback Win (Details)

Australia showed confidence as they came back from two goals down to defeat Brazil 3-2 at the 2019 Women's World Cup, MySportDab reports.

Marta put Brazil in front with a penalty but Caitlin Foord pulled Australia level.

Cristiane subsequently restored Brazil's advantage before Chloe Logarzo struck to make it 2-2.

Trailing 2-0 by the 38th minute, Australia pulled themselves back into the match with a first half added time goal by Caitlin Foord.

Chloe Logarzo drew the Matildas level in the 58th minute and Australia's determination was rewarded when Brazil's Monica sent the ball into her own net in the 66th minute.

There was a late VAR check for a Brazil penalty but the spot-kick wasn't awarded.

In Group C, Italy are the real winners of this result, with a result over Jamaica tomorrow putting them in pole position to finish first – while Brazil and Australia scrap over second and third, and a place in the top-heavy side of this World Cup draw.

- This is the first time in 24 years a team has blown a two-goal lead at Women's World Cup to lose – Germany were 2-0 up against Sweden inthe group stage in 1995 before going down 3-2.

- This is the first time in the history of the tournament that Australia have come from two goals down to either win or draw.
