Arsenal Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has wished Crystal Palace player Max Meyer a speedy recovery after his horror tackle in the 1-1 draw on Saturday, MySportDab reports.

Aubameyang was sent off for the horror challenge as he planted his studs into Meyer’s ankle which resulted him Meyer being taken off for further treatments.

Referee Paul Tierney had first showed Aubameyang a yellow card for the tackle but after a VAR review, Tierney changed his decision to a red card.

The Gabon international stood waiting as Tierney changed his decision and just walked off the pitch slowly.

Meanwhile, Meyer had to be withdrawn from the game after sustaining a serious problem to his left ankle.

Both team were level at 1-1 when the incident occurred in the 67th minute and it finished that way as the Gunners held on.

Some hours after the full-time whistle, Aubameyang took to Instagram to post a sorry message about the red card and 1-1 result.

“Hopefully Max Meyer get better soon,” Aubameyang began the post.

“I did not want to challenge him that hard and i appreciate that the boys who never gave up trying to get the win.

"But unfortunately we go back with a Draw we keep moving.”

However, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insisted there was nothing aggressive about the challenge but did apologies to the player.

"I just saw it now and it looked very bad to be fair,” the Spaniard said.

“Knowing Auba he never had any intention to make that tackle - hopefully Meyer hasn't been injured. Sorry about that."

The 1-1 draw leaves Arsenal 10th on the Premier League table, one point behind Crystal Palace and 11 point far off Chelsea in fourth place.
