Barcelona have installed 475 new VIP seats at the Estadi Johan Cruyff in a bid to generate fresh revenue and meet La Liga’s strict 1:1 spending rule before the 2025–26 season begins, MySportDab Reports.
The club is racing against time to register new arrivals Joan García, Marcus Rashford and Roony Bardghji ahead of their Spanish title defense opener against Mallorca this weekend.
The Catalan giants have been focused on raising funds this summer to avoid a repeat of last season’s registration saga, which saw Dani Olmo ineligible to play upon arrival.
Sales of Pau Víctor, Álex Valle and Pablo Torre have already brought in €23 million (\$26.7 million), while a newly announced partnership with the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo is expected to add €10 million (\$11.5 million) annually.
Despite these moves, Barcelona remain short of La Liga’s financial compliance, prompting the launch of the latest “financial lever.”
According to *Mundo Deportivo*, the nearly 500 “customized” VIP seats at the Estadi Johan Cruyff are aimed at securing a €100 million (\$116.1 million) investment.
The investment must first pass an audit by Crowe Spain before La Liga can approve it, but a delay in the auditing process has left the club waiting.
The VIP expansion follows similar sales at the new Camp Nou, which remains under renovation amid recent construction setbacks.
Barcelona’s immediate goal is to register not only their three marquee signings but also Wojciech Szczęsny, Gerard Martín, Héctor Fort and Marc Bernal before traveling to Mallorca’s Son Moix Stadium.
Last season’s registration delays did not prevent Hansi Flick’s men from winning a domestic treble, but the German coach will be keen to have his full squad available from the outset to maintain momentum in their title defense.
