Chelsea produced a brilliant second-half display to defeat Leeds United 6-3 at Stamford Bridge and book their qualifications into the next round of the Carabao Cup.

The Blues were 2-0 down shortly after the break, but Xabi Alonso’s side responded with six goals in a remarkable attacking performance.

Cole Palmer scored twice, while Danny Welbeck added a late brace as the Blues overwhelmed their rivals to secure qualification into the next round.

The visitors started the match strongly and deservedly took the lead in the first half through defender Tarik Muharemovic goals which came in the 23rd minute.

The visitors were aggressive from set pieces and looked the better side before the break. The Blues struggled to create clear chances and went into halftime trailing 1-0.

The situation became even more difficult for Chelsea just after the restart when Leeds doubled their advantage through Aaronson in the 48th minute of the encounter.

At 2-0 down, Stamford Bridge was stunned, but the home side quickly found a way back into the contest, thanks to changes made by Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea won a penalty after a challenge inside the box, and Cole Palmer calmly converted from the spot to make it 2-1 in the 53rd minute. The goal completely changed the momentum of the encounter.

Palmer struck again only a few minutes later. The England international finished confidently after excellent attacking play to level the score at 2-2 in the 55th minute.

Chelsea suddenly looked full of energy and belief, while Leeds struggled to contain the pressure coming from all areas of the pitch.

The turnaround was completed when Pedro Neto found the back of the net to put the home side 3-2 ahead in the 60th minute.

Morgan Rogers played a key role in the attack and was one of the standout performers of the night. The midfielder created several opportunities and finished the match with three assists.

Xabi Alonso’s side were now completely in control and continued to push forward. Danny Welbeck then added a fourth goal after another well-worked move in the 65th minute.

Rogers was again heavily involved as the Blues sliced through the Leeds defence with quick passing and movement. What had looked like a difficult evening for the Blues had turned into a goal-scoring exhibition.

Leeds refused to give up and managed to score a third goal to reduce the deficit 4-3 through a goal from a Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the 75th minute.

However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly ended when Valentin Barco scored a bullet in the 80th minute, which made sure the scoreline was 5-3.

The Argentine defender made an instant impact, restoring his side two-goal cushion and putting the result beyond serious doubt.

The final goal arrived deep into stoppage time. In the 90+4th minute, Pedro Neto drove down the right wing and delivered a dangerous cutback into the box.

Barco attempted a shot that did not connect properly, but Welbeck reacted quickest and guided the ball into the net to make it 6-3.

The goal completed a memorable comeback and capped off an incredible second half for the Blues. Chelsea ended up claiming a 6-3 victory against Leeds United after 90 minutes.

Chelsea’s attacking quality was the difference. Palmer’s two goals changed the game, Rogers supplied three assists, Neto contributed with a goal and an assist, while Welbeck finished with two goals.

Despite defensive concerns after conceding three times, Xabi Alonso will be delighted with the character his team showed after falling two goals behind.

The 6-3 victory keeps the London club’s Carabao Cup campaign alive and gives supporters plenty of reasons to be excited as the season carry on.

If the Blues can combine this attacking power with greater defensive stability, they could become one of the most dangerous teams in English football this season.

Chelsea claiming this 6-3 victory against Leeds United shows more promises, but one major concern will continue to be World Champions defending ability as they keep conceding goals.
