It was another nightmare for Barcelona as Athletic Bilbao edged out the La Liga giants from Copa Del Rey, MySportDab reports.
As expected, the Catalan giants dominated proceedings throughout the game but were undone by a spirited and dogged display by the hosts.
The stage was set for a cracker as Athletic Bilbao got off to a fiery start. Just a minute into the game, Barcelona saw themselves trailing by a lone goal. Guruzeta fired the home side into the lead with the quickest goal in the competition.
Like a bees unsettled from flames of fire, Barcelona surged forward immediately, pushing hard to restore parity. It was a near deadlock for the Catalans as they ended up being broken up by the hosts in the final third on several occasions.

Athletic Bilbao came out stronger in the second half, launching multiple counters and offensives to find an equaliser. Four minutes into the second half, Sancet found the back of the net for the hosts, scoring in the 49th minute to make it 2-2.
With the scores tied, the two teams struggled to take the lead again all to no avail. It ended squares at regulation time, dragging the game into extra time.

Barcelona ramped up efforts to find another leveler after the goal but were dealt a final blow when Inaki Williams assisted Williams to extend the lead with Athletic Bilbao’s fourth goal to make it 4-2.
