Mason Greenwood has rejected a return to Manchester United, MySportDab reports.

The 22-year-old was loaned to Getafe at the stroke of last summer’s transfer window after being cleared of charges of attempted rape and assault by Manchester United’s internal investigative panel.

It is understood Manchester United, under the old guard of Richard Arnold, did not want Mason Greenwood back to the club.

United wanted to part ways with the player at the expiration of his loan tenure with Getafe. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe raised hopes of Greenwood’s possible return again when he said he will consider a new decision on the future of the player at the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s gesticulations has been that of a possible reprieve for the 22-year-old to return to Manchester United.

Now, it appears Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s attempt to bring back Mason Greenwood could be an exercises in futility.

According to the Athletic, Mason Greenwood is not interested in returning to Manchester United as he believes the club would have done better to support his return to active football.

The report claims the youngster is ‘reluctant and has no great desire’ to play for Manchester United again as he felt betrayed by how the club handle his case.

The report also adds Greenwood is also uncomfortable of the eyebrows, scrutiny, and conversations his return to Old Trafford will generate, hence he has decided to stay put in LaLiga.

Greenwood has offers from top LaLiga clubs with Real Madrid and Barcelona said to be interested in the player.

Getafe are also interested in commiting him to a permanent contract when his current contract expires.
