The goat debate is certainly set to take a slight twist as latest rankings involving Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo emerges, MySportDab reports.
Annual marketability report released by SportsPro have seen Cristiano Ronaldo drop 27 places from the top spot while Lionel Messi has soared to the top spot and made history.
The marketability report is an annual report released by SportsPro which captures the popularity and sellability of sports personalities across all major sports in the world.
Cristiano Ronaldo topped the chart in 2022 while Lionel Messi was down the ladder below the likes of Lebron James and others.
Now, the latest report released has shown Lionel Messi climbing to the top spot while Ronaldo drops 27 places to the 27th position.
SportsPro explains that the sharp difference on the fate of the two football superstars is due to the recent page-truner transfer episodes on their careers.
Ronaldo’s marketability is said to have dropped when he completed his infamous move from Manchester United to Al Nassr.
In contrast, Lionel Messi rose on the chart despite exiting Europe as his move to Inter Miami turned out to be a money-spinner and transfer shocker echoing his image across the nooks and crannies of the football world.
Also, it is the second time Messi has occupied the top spot on the chart after he did so in 2020. The feat has made him the first sports personality to top the chart two times as his rival Cristiano Ronaldo has only topped the chart once in 2022.
