Nigeria claimed a narrow 0-1 victory against Guinea-Bissau to ensure they claim their ticket into the AFCON 2023 round 16, MySportDab reports.

The Super Eagles threatened all through the first half which saw them making sure they were compensated for their efforts.

They finished second place behind Equatorial Guinea who thrashed the host nation who are likely to crash out of the tournament.

There was a lot to play in the first half of the match which saw them pushing and trying to see what could be done for themselves.

It wasn’t a bad start for Guinea-Bissau who saw more of the ball and had freedom to play going forward with opportunities created.

Nigeria was calm and made sure they waited to strike when the opportunity came as the game progressed with them hitting close to a goal.

The goal finally happened in the 36th minute which saw a powerful cross meant for Victor Osimhen which Opa Sangante intercepted and made things 0-1 with an own-goal.

Nigeria kept their advantage as they headed for the break with a 0-1 lead against Guinea-Bissau who gave them a good fight that was very close.

They continued in the second half with a lot to play for while they hoped securing something would push them into the next round.

Guinea-Bissau had their moments going close to making something happen, but it wasn’t good enough to make anything on the goalkeeper.

Nigeria pushed on and Victor Osimhen scored but unfortunately, his goal did not count as he was flagged for a handball while trying to score.

The remaining minutes of the match saw two goals scored by both Nations and they were both counted as offside leaving the scoreline the same.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria cemented the victory which placed them with seven points from three games with this one ending 0-1 against Guinea-Bissau after 90 minutes.
