Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente officially unveiled his 26-man roster for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

With the tournament kicking off on June 11, the announcement marks the beginning of La Roja’s quest to reclaim the world title they last won in 2010.

De la Fuente’s selection reflects a strategic balance between established stars who provide tactical stability and a vibrant group of young talents who have taken European football by storm.

The squad features a significant contingent from Barcelona, underscoring the vital role the club continues to play in the national team’s infrastructure.

Among the standout inclusions is the teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, whose inclusion comes amidst his recovery from a hamstring injury; he is anticipated to reach full fitness just in time for the team’s third group-stage fixture.

In goal, Joan García fresh off a standout debut season that saw him claim the prestigious Zamora Trophy will provide stiff competition for veteran keepers Unai Simón and David Raya.

The defensive line is equally robust, featuring the versatility of Marc Cucurella, Alejandro Grimaldo, and the emerging defensive powerhouse Pau Cubarsí.

The midfield remains the heart of the Spanish engine, with the evergreen Rodrigo Hernández anchoring a creative core that includes the dynamic playmaking duo of Pedri and Gavi.

Dani Olmo also secures his spot, expected to be a pivotal tactical piece as Spain navigates the expanded, 48-team tournament format for the first time.

Spain has been drawn into Group H, where they will face Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, and debutants Cape Verde. Their journey begins on June 15 in Atlanta against Cape Verde.

The team is scheduled to assemble on May 30 at Las Rozas de Fútbol City to begin their intensive preparations. Before heading to North America, they will test their readiness in two final warm-up matches.

They will play a friendly against Iraq on June 4, followed by a final tune-up against Peru in Puebla on June 8.

The following players have been entrusted with the mission of bringing the trophy back to Spain with no Real Madrid player making the cut.

Goalkeepers: Unai Simón, David Raya, Joan García.

Defenders: Marc Cucurella, Alejandro Grimaldo, Pau Cubarsí, Aymeric Laporte, Marc Pubill, Eric García, Marcos Llorente, Pedro Porro.

Midfielders: Pedri, Fabián Ruiz, Martín Zubimendi, Gavi, Rodrigo Hernández, Álex Baena, Mikel Merino.

Forwards: Mikel Oyarzabal, Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, Yeremy Pino, Ferran Torres, Borja Iglesias, Víctor Muñoz, Lamine Yamal.

The omission of Real Madrid players has brought about questions despite a number of them played a huge part in the qualifying round.

As the squad heads into this historic tournament, the anticipation in Spain is palpable. With a technical, possession-oriented style refined under De la Fuente, La Roja enters the competition not just as participants, but as genuine contenders.

Whether this mix of experienced tactical masters and fearless youth can conquer the World stage remains to be seen, but the journey to the final in July promises to be a captivating spectacle for fans.
