Nigeria will face tournament hosts Morocco in a blockbuster semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with a place in the final at stake, MySportDab Reports.

The Super Eagles have been one of the standout teams of the competition, arriving in Morocco with modest expectations after missing out on qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Under the guidance of head coach Éric Chelle, Nigeria have responded in emphatic fashion, winning all five of their matches en route to the semi-finals while playing some of the most fluent attacking football at the tournament.

Nigeria opened their campaign with victories over Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda in the group stage before overpowering Mozambique 4-0 in the round of 16.

They then produced another commanding display to defeat tournament favourites Algeria 2-0 in the quarter-finals. With 14 goals scored and just four conceded, the three-time champions boast the competition’s most potent attack, led by Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams, with Alex Iwobi pulling the strings in midfield.

Morocco, meanwhile, have combined home support with tactical discipline to mount a strong title challenge. Walid Regragui’s side topped their group before seeing off Cameroon 2-0 in the quarter-finals, extending a run in which they have conceded just one goal at the tournament, and none from open play. Real Madrid forward Brahim Díaz has been central to their success, scoring in every match so far and emerging as one of AFCON’s standout performers.

The hosts also hold the historical edge in this rivalry, having dominated recent meetings between the sides. However, Nigeria’s current form suggests they are capable of upsetting the balance, even in hostile territory.

Team news could play a role, with Nigeria captain Wilfred Ndidi suspended after accumulating bookings, while Bright Osayi-Samuel remains a fitness doubt. Morocco are close to full strength, although Azzedine Ounahi and Romain Saïss remain sidelined.

With Nigeria’s attacking firepower up against Morocco’s defensive solidity, Wednesday’s semi-final promises a fascinating tactical battle between two of Africa’s heavyweights — and a fitting contest at this late stage of the tournament.
