Lionel Messi scored a shocking free-kick for Argentina in the Copa America match against Chile, MySportDab reports.

Despite Messi’s shocking free-kick, Argentina failed to win the match.

Argentina star Lionel Messi has not yet won an international trophy with his country, and wants to end that this year.

In perfect style, his free-kick goal went above the wall from 25 yards, and scored into the back of the net.

Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was unable to stop Messi from scoring with that beautiful free-kick.

That was his 73rd goal and he is now the top goal scorer for his country ahead of Gabriel Bautistuta with 39 goals.

His goal did not last long as, Chile fought back to secure a point from the match.

Chile were awarded a penalty when Nicolas Tagliafico left his foot in on Arturo Vidal inside the penalty area.

After the decision was checked by the VAR, Vidal played the penalty but failed to score as goalkeeper Martinez tipped the ball onto the crossbar.

But unfortunately for Argentina, Eduardo Vargas reacted quickest to score the loose ball into the net.

Messi tried in earnest to secure a win for Argentina but they could only settle for a 1-1 draw against Chile last night.
