Manchester City have been submerged in a fresh financial scandal, MySportDab reports.
The Premier League and European Champions, who are currently facing 115 charges from the Premier League bordering on breaching Financial Fair Play Rules, has now been embroiled in another fresh payment scandal.
The club are currently accused of taking a payment amounting to £30m from an ‘unknown and mysterious figure’ for sponsorship fund in 2012 and 2013.
Details of the report shows Manchester City took the money which is believed to be a sponsorship fund from the ‘mystery figure’ who is said to based in Abu Dhabi.
The payment is said to have been taken around 2012 and 2013 with UEFA Financial Control Body claiming the payment is linked to a UAE-based telecom company, Etisalat.
UEFA claims the money was actually sourced from the owners of Manchester City who are based in Abu Dhabi, which is a breach of UEFA financial rules.
Recall Manchester City were indicted and found guilty of breaching UEFA financial rules and were hit with a Champion League ban for two years but the ban was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sports, who argued the allegations were not factual while others were time-barred.
The new payment allegations as raised by UEFA is reportedly covered by Premier League’s 115 charges on Manchester City for inaccurately reporting their finances for nine years.
Manchester City are yet to comment on the allegation but have always argued of not having done anything wrong since the financial scandals surfaced.
