Cristiano Ronaldo has finally settled on his future with Al-Nassr by signing a new contract with the club, MySportDab reports.
The footballing icon has been in the news due to uncertainties surrounding his future with the Knights of Riyadh.
His contract was set to expire this summer but renewal talks were underway for a new deal. Now, Al-Nassr have confirmed the player has penned down a new deal, extending his stay with the Riyadh-based outfit.
In footage on the club’s social media and website, a smiling Ronaldo posed with the club’s chief, signing a new two-year contract till 2027.
Notably, Ronaldo’s new Al-Nassr contract was envisaged given his overarching influence and role in the Saudis’ ambitious football modernization project.
Since his groundbreaking transfer move to the club, several elite footballers in Europe have also signed for different clubs, raising the bar in the league and also making it appealing to the global audience.
Also, this new contract is a big statement on Ronaldo’s football career plans. It is understood the Man United legend is eager to participate in the 2026 World Cup which is likely to be his final international tournament.
Hence, a contract renewal with Al-Nassr was a necessity to keep him in the game in anticipation of the tournament.
Due to the 2026 World Cup, it was thought he would sign a new one-year deal enough to see him through to the tournament.
Now, the two-year contract implies the footballing sensation will still have at least one more session of competitive club football after the World Cup before possibly calling time in his career.
