Rutledge attended Celebration High School before enrolling at the University of Florida, where she earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism.

During college, she was an active member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and developed a strong passion for television broadcasting and communications.

In 2012, she was crowned Miss Florida, succeeding Kristina Janolo. The title helped increase her public profile and provided valuable experience in public speaking, media appearances, and live television, skills that would later prove invaluable in her broadcasting career.

Laura has also experienced personal tragedy. Her younger brother, Alex McKeeman, died in 2018 following a cave diving accident at Silver Glen Springs in Florida. She has spoken publicly about the profound impact his passing had on her and her family.

Laura and Josh were married in December 2013 and have built a strong family together. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Reese Katherine Rutledge, on October 2, 2019.

Reese shares the same birthday as her mother. Their second child, a son named Jack Alexander Rutledge, was born on May 25, 2023.
