Wayne Rooney scored a free kick as Man United legends played out a 1-1 draw before losing 4-5 on penalty against Celtic at Old Trafford, MySportDab reports.
The organized charity football match saw legendary names coming together one more time to create more memories at Old Trafford.
First Half ReportÂ
It was a good one in England which saw Man United legends lineup of van der Gouw; Bardsley, Johnsen, Silvestre, Simpson; Djemba-Djemba, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia; Berbatov, Rooney.
While for Celtic, it was Boruc, Lustig, Wilson, Mulgrew, McManus, Hayes, Petrov, Ledley, Samaras, Vennegoor of Hesselink, Hooper.
Both teams came prepared with so much hunger to try and show they still have what it takes despite putting an end to their career a long time ago.
The first half saw some great action coming through from both the Manchester United legends and Celtic who had some moments for the fans.
No goal was scored between them until Wayne Rooney curled in a 25 yards freekick in the 41st minutes which found it’s way through into the net to make it 1-0.
Second Half ReportÂ
Both sides reported back into the pitch for the second half which saw a lot more taking fold from both ends with more changes happening.
Berbatov saw his effort in the skimmed off the crossbar in the 51st minutes before the opponent had a go which was also off the target.
It was more of opportunities until Hooper was able to level things 1-1 in the 62nd minutes after a tap in which was as a result of Petrov’s 25 yard which hit the cross bar.
It was clear that both sides did so well that they ended the match with things staying 1-1 while they not prepared for penalty shootout.
PenaltyÂ
It was a close one between both of them as Celtic Legends ran away with a 4-5 victory from the penalty spot to claim the day at Old Trafford.
