Al-Ahli’s move for Victor Osimhen has suffered a late setback in a big boost to Chelsea, MySportDab reports.

According to a latest report by Sky Sports, top Saudi sources have confirmed Al-Ahli’s move for Victor Osimhen is not possible after they also agreed a deal with Brentford for Ivan Toney.

Further details reveal Al-Ahli cannot sign the two players at the same time because they will run amok of quota rule meant for clubs in the Saudi elite division.

All Saudi clubs are limited to specific number of foreign players in their teams as the emphasis is currently on grooming indigenous talents to boost the country’s burgeoning football culture.

We reported earlier that Al-Ahli have reached an agreement with Brentford to sign Ivan Toney for £40m. Based on reports from the Saudi sources, this means they may not be able to sign Osimhen also.

This is not only due to the quota rule, they are also reportedly out of budget to pull through on Osimhen’s deal.

The recent report means Chelsea could be on the lane to securing the services of Victor Osimhen. Recall Chelsea have submitted a bid to Napoli for a loan deal with a buyout option for Osimhen.

Talks are said to be ongoing with Osimhen open to a move to Chelsea should the club agree both personal and club terms for his transfer.
