Real Madrid have extended their lead on top of the La Liga with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Girona, MySportDab reports.
It was a rout at the Santiago Bernabeu as the Los Blancos humbled Girona with a resounding La Liga victory to clear up at the top of the table.
The two teams went into the title-deciding six-pointer with just two points apart. Real Madrid sat top of the La Liga table with 58 points while Girona were second with 56 points.
After losing the reverse fixture at home to the La Liga giants, Girona had hoped to pull out at least a point heading into Santiago Bernabeu to take on the La Liga and European giants.
It was thought it would be a cracker as the two sides went head-to-head on the title race but Real Madrid lorded the game from all angles over the visitors.
The hosts were on the ascendancy from the start, dominating proceedings, breaking on speedy and promising attacks, and pushing hard against Girona in search of an opening goal.

Just six minutes into the game, Vinicius Jr split open Girona’s defense to fire Real Madrid into the lead, thanks to a brilliant assist by Federico Valverde.
Girona made little effort up front to restore parity as Real Madrid continued with their dominant start to the game. In the 35th minute, Jude Bellingham doubled the lead for the hosts firing them into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead.
Nothing changed in the second half with Real Madrid still maintaining their dominant trail in the game. Jude Bellingham scored again for the Los Blancos a few minutes into second half to bag his brace and extend the lead again.
Seven minutes after his brace, Rodrygo compounded the woes of the visitors as he scored Real Madrid’s 4th goal to make it 4-0. At this point, it was literally a game-over for Girona as their dominant hosts were cruising to a deserved victory in the title-decider.
It ended 4-0 at the blast of the final whistle with Real Madrid extending the point gap over Girona at the top to five points.
