Bayern Leverkusen have secured a statement Bundesliga victory over Bayern Munich in Bundesliga title-decider, MySportDab reports.
It was a cracker as the Bundesliga heavyweights locked horns in a much-anticipated Bundesliga match. A lot was at stake in the six-pointer clash. The two teams were separated by two points heading into the game.
Bayer Leverkusen, who have maintained their unbeaten start to the season in all competitions, were top of the table with 52 points with Bayern Munich following closely with 50 points.
With just a two-point gap, the Bundesliga title race which has seemingly narrowed down to a two-horse race between the two teams, was an unfinished business.
A draw would have kept both teams on their nerves in the race, including a win for Bayern Munich. In all possible permutations, Bayern Munich needed to avoid a defeat to stay put in the Bundesliga title race.
It was a nightmare outing for the Bavarians. They dominated proceedings, wielding close to 70% of the ball possession but were struggling to find the back of the net.

A misfiring and wasteful attack saw the Bavarians fired 8 shots with only one target. Bayer Leverkusen struggled to match the visitors’ dominant sail with possession but were far more deadlier in the attack than the Bavarians.
They fired 13 shots and recorded 7 on target of which two were perfectly converted into goals. Stanisic opened the scoring for the home side in the 18th minute before Grimaldo sealed the victory five minutes into the second half.
The final 40 minutes saw Bayern Munich struggle aimlessly in front of goals. Against the run of play, Frimpong scored a stoppage-time goals to seal the victory as the ran out with a deserved 3-0 victory after the final whistle.
The victory has seen the Xabi Alonso-led side extend the lead on top of the Bundesliga table to 5 points above Bayern Munich.
