BREAKING! Victor Boniface Ruled Out Of 2023 AFCON!

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has been ruled out of 2023 AFCON due to injury, MySportDab reports.

The former Union Saint-Gilloise striker made the 25-man list invited for the continental showpiece by Jose Peseiro.

Victor Boniface arrived camp with other invited players and was ready for his first AFCON campaign with the Super Eagles.

However, a sad report from the Super Eagles camp has disclosed that Boniface has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

The Bayer Leverkusen striker is said to have picked up a groin injury and will not be able to take part in the competition.

Boniface is expected to fly back to Germany where he is expected to undergo treatment and rehabilitation for the injury.

According to Fabrizio Romano, he will be ruled out of action for six weeks before full recovery.

His injury will come as a major blow to the Super Eagles who had expected a deadly and prolific striking partnership between the Bundesliga striker and Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen.

Boniface was tipped to star for the Super Eagles in the tournament following his outstanding debut campaign with Bayer Leverkusen in Bundesliga.

Since arriving the German elite division Victor Boniface has swept the Bundesliga, winning all the five Rookies due to his outstanding performance for Bayer Leverkusen.

He is the second Super Eagles to be ruled out of the tournament after being named in the 25-man squad. We reported earlier Leicester City DM Wilfred Ndidi has also been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Nigeria will open their AFCON campaign on January 14 against Equatorial Guinea before taking on Ivory Coast, and Guinea-Bissau in the last group game.
