Embattled former Spanish Football Chief Luis Rubiales has been banned from football after due enquiry into alleged assault on Jennifer Hermoso during 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, MySportDab reports.

Luis Rubiales threw the world off balance after he was spotted in a viral footage planting an undesired kiss on Spain women’s national team forward, Jennifer Hermoso.

He came under heavy backlash from Spanish football stakeholders and world football authorities, including present and former Spanish professional footballers.

It was thought he will humbly resign following the flurry of negative reactions but Rubiales defied the odds and shocked all when he exclaimed in Spanish Football General Assembly that he did not do anything wrong and will not resign.

According to him, Jennifer Hermoso lied about him and made him a target of false feminists and social murderers because she consented to the kiss.

Hermoso, on the other hand, debunked his claims and said she did not consent to the kiss.

After all pressure to force Luis Rubiales to step down failed, FIFA stepped in and provisionally suspended him to aid investigations into the incident.

Now, according to reports reaching us from BBC, FIFA have now banned Luis Rubiales for three years for breaching article 13 of their disciplinary code.

He is not expected to take part in any football-related activity untill the expiration of the ban.

Rubiales, 46, doubled as UEFA vice president while he was Spanish Football Federation President but was also forced off the role following the clampdown by FIFA.

The ban will cut him off from everything football until 2027 when it will expire.
