The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced a strategic collaboration with Spain’s renowned La Liga, MySportDab reports.

The partnership aims to bolster the skills and expertise of Nigerian players through comprehensive training programs.

The announcement was made by Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC), during a press conference in Lagos. As part of this innovative venture, the NPFL has established a dedicated Technical Committee.

This committee’s primary task is to identify the top 11 All-Star players from the 2023/2024 league season. These standout athletes will then embark on a two-week journey to Spain, engaging in friendly matches against premier La Liga teams.

The collaboration is a testament to the NPFL’s commitment to enhancing the quality of Nigerian football and acknowledging outstanding performances.

Elegbeleye emphasized that this partnership with La Liga signifies a significant step towards making the Nigerian league more vibrant and rewarding hard work.

Harrison Jala leads the esteemed Technical Committee, comprising experts such as Austin Eguaveon, Daniel Amokachi, Godwin Nwa, Deji Omotoyinbo, Segun Agbede, and Mitchel Obi.

Their diverse backgrounds bring valuable insights to the selection process, ensuring fairness and excellence.

Jala expressed the committee’s readiness to steer the league towards even greater innovation and success in the upcoming 2023/2024 season.

He highlighted the members’ profound experience in their respective fields, reinforcing the dedication to fairness and improvement.

Additionally, Basil Kabbani, Chairman of Propel Sports Africa, lauded the collaboration’s strides in transforming sports coverage across the nation.

He unveiled a pivotal development – the delivery of three advanced AI cameras ahead of the upcoming season. These enhancements, facilitated by Pixellos and ITV Africa, promise to revolutionize match coverage and analysis, offering a more comprehensive view of league matches.

As the NPFL prepares for the much-anticipated kickoff on September 9th, this historic partnership with La Liga ushers in a new era of growth and excellence for Nigerian football.

With top-notch training opportunities and enhanced match coverage, the Nigerian league is poised to ascend to greater heights in the global football arena.
