Manchester United have been dealt a heavy blow in their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils have been eyeing for the prolific Danish youngster who has been likened to Erling Haaland in the final third.

Manchester United have reportedly offered a number of players plus a cash offer to push through a deal for Rasmus Hojlund but have been turned down by Atalanta who want an all-cash offer for the player.

After forking out £112 lm for Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Inter Milan, Manchester United are reportedly limited on the amount they could possibly pay for the their next signing.

With the threshold of £45m which they wanted to table as their first bid for Rasmus Hojlund it is understood the club were still playing under FFP limits.

Now, their hope of signing Hojlund at a considerably fair and budget friendly price is dashed as reports have emerged Atalanta will will stick to their £86m valuation of Holjund – a decision that has been confirmed by Atalanta coach, Glan Piero Gasperini.

Speaking when asked about the future of Rasmus Hojlund, Gasperini said he cannot actually say anything on the future of Holjund whether he will stay or not but he do understand the club will not budge in their £86m demand for the player.

“I don’t know and can’t say something now on the future of Holjund but I can say the club will not ask for less than £86m for the player.

“He is a top talent and will not sold on a derogation price,” Gasperini said.

Erik Ten Hag have been on the trail of Holjund after it is apparent the club cannot go after Harry Kane due to Tottenham’s unyielding position and high price tag for the player.

Erik Ten Hag wants Holjund to partner with Marcus playing on a top 9 role for the club next season.

It is understood personal terms with Hojlund is not a problem but Manchester United now have to face the big barrier of forking out £86m to buy Holjund with the risk of being sanctioned for breaking FFP rules.
