Chelsea Close in On Signing Montpellier Youngster Elye Wahi [Details]

Chelsea are close to signing highly-rated Montpellier young striker Elye Wahi, MySportDab reports.

Elye Wahi, 20, is regarded as one of the fast-rising youngsters in French Ligue 1 after he top scored for Montpelier in French Ligue 1.

Wahi produced a stunning performance fro Montpellier last season, scoring 19 goals for the club.

In one of the French Ligue 1 clash against Olympique Lyon, Wahi produced an incredible performance, scoring four goals in just 15 minutes for Montpelier.

According to the Mail, Chelsea are closing up on signing the French youngster from Montpellier this summer.

Arsenal were also said to be interested in a move for the player, including other big clubs in Europe following his sterling outing with Montpellier last season.

Should the Blues see through a deal with Montpellier for Wahi, the exciting young talent will be the fifth player to be added to the squad this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly hopeful of completing the move for Wahi as soon as possible with an alternative plan to loan him temporarily to Strasbourg before bringing him to Chelsea first team.

Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly, has a stake at Strasbourg club and is ready to have Wahi join the Ligue 1 side temporarily before switching to Stamford Bridge.

The move for Wahi will see the youngster join Chelsea newly signed attackers such as Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, who are shaping up under Mauricio Pochettino before the 2023/24 season kicks off.

Chelsea have won their two friendlies in preseason against Wrexham and Brighton, scoring nine goals in the two matches.

The addition of Elye Wahi to the club’s attacking options will further sharpen’s the Blues’ firepower as they prepare to roll back the abysmal 2022/23 outing for a rollercoaster campaign next season.
