Liverpool and Southampton have settled for a dramatic eight-goal thriller in the final day of the Premier League, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

Liverpool started off on a good note with a good press and spell of possession with Southampton just playing for pride after they were confirmed relegated.

Reds dominated proceedings from the start and gave nothing away as they pushed the Saints into their own half.

A quickfire double in the 10th and 15th minute set Liverpool enroute to a win over the struggling hosts.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring for Liverpool before Roberto Firmino doubled the lead five minutes later.

Southampton fought back with grit immediately after conceding two goals.

Ward-Prowse cut the deficit for the Saints in the 19th minute to make it 2-1, leaving the game finely poised for an interesting finish.

In the 28th minute, Southampton got back fully into the game with Sulemana netting the equaliser.

The first half ended with a four-goal thriller with both sides settling for a 2-2 draw.

Second Half Report

The game got underway in the second with the same attacking momentum from the first half.

Both sides contested for possession while maintaining their attacking momentum going forward.

Southampton seemed more deadly on the charge but Liverpool were had more grip on the game.

Just three minutes into the first, Sulemana bagged his brace to put Southampton in front.

The Reds were now trailing 3-2 but could find the equaliser as the game progressed.

In the 645th minute, Liverpool’s comeback hopes were dealt a fatal blow after Armstrong extended the lead making it 4-2.

After Armstrong’s goal, Liverpool mounted a speedy and formidable response with two quickfire goals by Gody Gakpo and Diego Jota in the 72nd and 73rd minute, respectively, bringing the scoreline to a dramatic 4-4 draw.

The Reds were fired up to find a winner as they mounted intense pressure to grab a winner with just few minutes in the game.

The game ended with both sides settling for a dramatic 4-4 draw after the final whistle.
