Lionel Messi is closing in on his PSG exit after a failed attempt to renew his contract, MySportDab reports.

The Argentina World Cup winner previously indicated he will want to stay at Parc Des Princes during the World Cup.

After the World Cup the tables of negotiations between both parties have turned.

Contract renewal talks between Messi and PSG have stalled with both parties said to be driven further after weeks of negotiations.

French media outlet L’Equipe reports Lionel Messi is closing in on his PSG exit at the end of the summer.

His two-year contract is set to expire at the end of the summer in few months time.

According to L’Equipe, Lionel Messi and PSG are “close to divorce” and have been driven further apart in recent weeks after failed contract renewal talks.

The report adds Lionel Messi’s family are eager to return to Barcelona where Lionel Messi started his football career and emerged into one of the best players in the history of the game.

Messi was linked to a move Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal reportedly ready to table a whooping £194m-a-year-deal for Barcelona legend.

However, all reports linking Lionel Messi to a summer exit from PSG was debunked by his father and agent Jorge Messi.

Recently, Barcelona have confirm contact with Lionel Messi as they hope to have him back to Camp Nou.

Messi’s popularity with PSG fans has also plummeted after the club crashed out of the Champions League round 16 two times in a row since he arrived at the club.

He was booed in PSG Vs Rennes match and PSG Vs Lyon game, sparking speculations the World Cup winner might be on his way out of the club at the end of the summer.
