Inter Milan have qualified for Champions League semi-final on a 5-3 aggregate win over Benfica after settling for a 3-3 draw in second leg, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
The first began with both sides trying to get the better of the other after the referee set the match rolling.
It was a cagey affair between both sides going forward as they tried to outplay the other and make something out the game.
Inter Milan were already a leg into the semifinals after first leg 2-0 away win in Portugal but have to beat a determined Benfica side at home to secure semifinal ticket.
The home side could not command absolute dominance over the game but were making inroads with good attacking momentum.
Fourteen minutes into the game, Barella opened the scoring for Inter Milan putting the Series A side a step further ahead of their opponents.
Benfica ramped up their attempts to equaliser and were able to hit the Serie A side in the 38th minute with Aursnes with the goal.
The first half ended 1-1 with both sides giving good account of themselves.
Second Half Report
Benfica ramped up their attempts to come back into the game and were controlling proceedings early in the second half.
Despite some great attacking efforts, they failed to find the back of the net and were vulnerable when under the threat of Inter Milan counter.
Sixty-five minutes into the game, Martinez restored Inter Milan’s lead with a great strike to make it 2-1.
Thirteen minutes after Martinez’s stirke, Correa doubled the lead for Inter Milan, making it 3-1 in the 78th minute.
It was then gameover for Benfica as they had a big mountain to climb with a big aggregate loss with few minutes remaining into the game.
In the 86th minutes, Antonio Silva put one back for Benfica, making it 3-2 but the Italian side were en route to the semifinals with a good agrgegate win.
In the 90+5th minute, Musa scored the equaliser for Benfica as the match ended 3-3 after final whistle but Inter Milan progressed to semifinals on a 5-3 aggregate win.
