Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has now sent a clear warning about Manchester United to youngster Cody Gakpo, MySportDab reports.

Gakpo has impressed so far this season and at the World Cup, which has resulted into talks about his future transfer.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.

Given Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit, the Red Devils need a replacement and Gakpo could be the perfect fit.

The PSV star is currently among the joint-top goalscorer at the World Cup now with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Lionel Messi, Enner Valencia, Alvaro Morata and Kylian Mbappe.

However, Liverpool defender Van Dijk has made it clear he does not want Gakpo at Manchester United.

Speaking Netherlands’ 3-1 win recently, the Reds centre-back said that United are far behind Real Madrid’s level.

“Manchester United and Real Madrid are obviously not on the same level? I don’t mean any disrespect at all,” Van Dijk said.

“I definitely think he will make the next big move. I feel like it could happen in January or the summer or next year, it’s only a matter of time.

“He works hard, very talented and can achieve a lot more. We are happy that he is doing so well for us.”

For PSV, he has scored Gakpo 13 goals and provided 17 assists in 24 matches across all competitions.

Any transfer in January will cost more due to his impressive form at the World Cup.
