At first, the engagement by the riot police was not violent. However, things spilled out of control when the attempts by the Police to control the crowd failed.

The well-equipped riot cops, with their head gears and armory, were then forced to use force to disperse the fans in what appeared to be a more violent scene.

Some Celtic fans could be spotted running helter-skelter as the force applied by the riot police sparked commotion.

Some fans were knocked to the ground as they tried to escape for safety while their drinks, chairs, and tables tumbled over.

As of the time of filing this report, it is still unknown what led to the face-off between the Madrid riot police and the Celtic fans.

The Scottish club, who are rocked bottom in their Champions League, only have two points after five matches.

They are ruled out from the Champions League round of 16 and the Europa League.

The game against Real Madrid is inconsequential to their Champions League or Europa League chances.

The first leg ended in a 3-0 win for Real Madrid, and the Los Blancos will ne battling to secure the top against challengers RB Leipzig.

Real Madrid have qualified for the next round of the competition but will have to compete with Leipzig for the top spot, who have 9 points.
