Chelsea defender, Andreas Christensen is set to leave the club at the end of the season to join Spanish giants, Barcelona.

Christensen’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season and the La Liga side are increasingly confident of winning the race to sign to sign the defender.

Christensen, who has been a player for Chelsea since joining from Brondby in 2012 is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club as he enters the final months of his Chelsea contract.

Bayern Munich had also shown interest but Barcelona have emerged as frontrunners with the 25 year-old understood to have indicated his willingness to move to the Nou Camp.

Chelsea believed they were on the verge of tying Christensen down on an extended deal last summer but negotiations broke down following a change in the Danish defender’s demands.

With the situation remaining unresolved, head coach Thomas Tuchel said in November: ‘It’s on Andreas to act how he acts on the pitch off the pitch and walk the talk.”

Barca have been pursuing the Denmark international since last summer after the club approached him to enquire about his availability on a free transfer, according to multiple reports.

The Catalan side are said to have had advanced talks with the Dane and his team who have given the ‘verbal OK’ to a deal.

Barcelona are also keen on Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta while Antonio Rudiger’s future is unresolved with his contract up this summer too.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have added Brighton’s Adam Webster to the list of centre-backs under their radar ahead of a potential defense restructuring in the summer.
