Manchester United have now made contact with Bayern Munich defender’s agent about signing him next summer, MySportDab reports.

The 28-year-old, David Alaba can speak to any club about his next transfer in January and has now attracted top European clubs.

Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and United have been linked with signing Alaba over the last 12 months.

Alaba has spent 12 years with Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga.

The Austria international is a key player in Hansi Flick’s team and has started most of Bayern’s Bundesliga matches this season.

“We tried, did everything possible to reach an agreement,” Bayern chief executive officer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, said.

‘We talked for a long time, but we wanted to reach an agreement before November.

“This failed to happen and I’m not sure if we’ll return to continue negotiations.

“I want to make it clear that our contract offer showed how much we value him, but he refused accept it.”

Rummenigge added: “He’s free to speak to clubs he wants from January 1st 2021.”

According to Spanish Newspaper AS, Real Madrid have made Alaba their target if Sergio Ramos refuses to sign a new contract.

The Spaniard’s contract will also expire in the summer and the 34-year-old has not agreed a new contract with Los Blancos.

However, Madrid’s plans to sign Alaba would be complicated by the interest from other clubs like Manchester rivals, United and City.

MySportDab understands that United have already submitted a formal offer to Alaba’s agent, Pini Zahavi.

The Reds have increased their interest in the Austrian as they know it will be hard to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
