Chelsea coach Frank Lampard has admitted that Hakim Ziyech is fan better than he expected, MySportDab reports.
Ziyech started his Chelsea career in a perfect way and produced another brilliant performance in the 4-1 Sheffield United win.
The Morocco man provided two assists for his team-mates as Chelsea moved into third on the Premier League table.
However, Lampard has said he always thought Ziyech was a “world class” player but he is even now better than before.
“We have played against Ziyech before in the Champions League. He’s a top player,” Lampard told Sky Sports.
“He has impressed me more after working with him. The Dutch season finished a long time ago, then he suffered an injury so return back with this level of performance is remarkable.
“He will be a crucial player for us. I need players who can come in and carry the team. That’s tough. The midfield were fantastic with their runs.”
Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy failed to continue his run of consecutive Premier League clean sheets after David McGoldrick scored for Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard was disappointed they conceded the goal that but he is more delighted with his players response.
“Sheffield United are a strong team,” Lampard added.
“They are good at putting you under intense pressure. We did not deal with it in the best way but the reaction for the rest of the game was good.
“It’s something we need to become better at. Everybody expected it to come on but it doesn’t. We saw a lot of that today against a very difficult team. Great signs so let’s continue to progress.”
