Liverpool have now publicly announced that midfielder Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for Covid-19, MySportDab reports.
The Spanish midfielder is now in self-isolation.
Thiago was not available for Liverpool’s 3-1 win against on Monday night and Jurgen Klopp did not reveal why he was not present.
However, The Reds have now announced that Thiago has Covid-19 and was displaying symptoms.
Liverpool’s first-team squad doctor, said: ‘Each individual has the choice to reveal or keep secret, their Covid-19 test results.
‘We are now working with all the required protocols and Thiago is fine. He is now in self-isolation as per the regulations and we hope he’ll be back soon.’
On Twitter, Thiago wrote ‘time to heal’ while his former club Bayern Munich wished him a quick recovery.
For Sunday, Thiago will miss Liverpool’s Premier League match against Aston Villa and the international break
He should be available again for Liverpool before their following Premier League match, against Everton on October 17.
In recent weeks, The number of Covid-19 cases has gone up in the north-west of England, mostly Liverpool.
