The goal finally came in the 71st minute through Sadio Mane after he was setup by Naby Keita.
They took the lead as the game progressed to the last stages with time running out for Aston Villa.
Liverpool got the second goal in the last minute through youngster Curtis Jones with assist from Mohamed Salah.
Full time whistle saw the Reds claimed a well deserved victory over relegation threaten Aston Villa.
