FT: Athletic Bilbao 0-1 Real Madrid, Ramos STRIKES Madrid 7Points Clear (Match Highlight)

Real Madrid narrowly beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0 through a Sergio Ramos penalty in the second half as Madrid go seven points clear off Barcelona, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

Real Madrid heads into the game against Athletic Bilbao knowing a win will see them move further from Barcelona.

The first 45 minutes didn’t create too much talking points as both teams played out goalless score.

Real Madrid did much of the attacking as Athletic Bilbao sit back and defend with hopes of breaking through a counter attack.

Both teams came close on several occasions to go ahead but the finishing was nothing to talk about.

One good thing to talk about the first half was that both team’s defense was solid all through.

It ended 0-0 as both sides headed for the break with Real Madrid in total control of the ball possession.

Second Half Report

The second 45 minutes was a different ball game as Real Madrid were able to get the goal and a winner.

It all began where it ended in the first half with Athletic Bilbao doing most of the defending.

Karim Benzema came close to scoring but he was intercepted before he could cause any troubles.

Soon the goal finally came through Sergio Ramos who scored from the penalty spot to give his side the lead.

The goal came as a result when Dani Garcia commits a clear foul on Marcelo in the penalty box.

Mikel Vesga almost pulled level for Athletic Bilbao but his effort was wide on goal as the game draws to a close.

The 1-0 victory sees Zidane side go seven points clear off the log with Barcelona to play later in the day.
