She played professional soccer, founded a fitness brand, and co-founded the Kansas City Current, a National Women’s Soccer League franchise now valued at 325 million dollars, the second highest valuation in the league.

She and Patrick have been married since 2022 and are raising three children together.

Brittany Matthews Biography

Brittany Matthews

She was born August 31, 1995, in Whitehouse, Texas, to Scott and Diana Matthews. She has a brother, Devin Matthews.

Brittany Mahomes attended Whitehouse High School, where she met Patrick Mahomes, then a sophomore to her junior year, and the two began dating as teenagers.

She was an accomplished athlete even then, named Offensive MVP and an All-East Texas forward as a senior, scoring 22 goals with 5 assists that season.

Career

Brittany Matthews Career

Brittany Mahomes played college soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler from 2013 to 2016, not the University of Texas as often mischaracterized, appearing in 74 matches and scoring 31 goals.

She broke the program’s single-season scoring record with 18 goals and its all-time scoring record with 46, while also earning Academic All-Conference recognition.

As Patrick continued his own path through Texas Tech and into the NFL, Brittany signed her first professional contract with Icelandic club Afturelding/Fram in May 2017, competing in the country’s third-tier women’s division.

She scored two goals in five appearances that season; the club won its league and earned promotion but did not offer her a renewed contract, and she retired from professional soccer at 22, returning to Kansas City, where Patrick had just been drafted by the Chiefs.

In January 2026, the University of Texas at Tyler inducted her into its Athletic Hall of Fame, formal recognition of a college career that had largely been overshadowed by the fame that followed.

After retiring from playing, Brittany became a certified fitness trainer and, in 2019, launched Brittany Lynne Fitness, an online training platform offering customized programs across different fitness levels.

The brand has since expanded into partnerships with athletic and lifestyle companies, including a clothing line with Shop Vitality named after the couple’s daughter, Sterling Skye.

Her most significant business move came in December 2020, when she became a founding co-owner of the Kansas City Current, helping secure the NWSL franchise before Patrick later joined as a minority stake owner himself.

The team plays at CPKC Stadium, the first stadium in the United States purpose-built specifically for women’s soccer.

It has grown into one of the league’s most valuable franchises, valued by Forbes at 325 million dollars as of April 2026, second in the NWSL only to Angel City FC.

In August 2026, Brittany Mahomes opened KC Current Studios, a new production and broadcasting facility in Kansas City built to create original content, host live broadcasts and podcasts, and run workshops supporting the next generation of women in sports media.

She remains involved with the 15 and Mahomies Foundation alongside Patrick, and has been credited by Patrick himself as the driving force behind some of the couple’s biggest investment decisions.

Her husband, Patrick Mahomes, has won three Super Bowls and two NFL MVP awards with the Kansas City Chiefs since being drafted out of Texas Tech.

In 2020, he signed a ten-year extension worth up to 503 million dollars, among the largest contracts in professional sports history.

Forbes’ World’s Highest Paid Athletes list for 2026 ranked him 15th overall with total earnings of 84.7 million dollars that year, combining 56.7 million in on-field earnings with 28 million from endorsements.

Beyond football, Patrick has built an investment portfolio that includes ownership stakes in the Kansas City Royals, Sporting Kansas City, and the Alpine Formula One team.

Patrick Mahomes’ Wife

Patrick Mahomes Wife

Patrick Mahomes proposed to Brittany on September 1, 2020, the day after her 25th birthday, with a large radiant cut diamond ring on a structured double band that drew significant coverage from jewelry and lifestyle publications for its design.

The two married on March 12, 2022, in Hawaii, with their daughter Sterling serving as flower girl, scooting down the aisle in a tiny toy car.

Patrick later told PEOPLE that having Sterling part of the wedding hit differently, a sentiment Brittany echoed on Instagram at the time.

Children

Brittany Mahomes and Patrick have three children. Their first, daughter Sterling Skye Mahomes, was born February 20, 2021, before the couple had even married.

Their son, Patrick Bronze Lavon Mahomes III, was born November 29, 2022. Their youngest, daughter Golden Raye Mahomes, was born January 12, 2025, timed, as Patrick had hoped around Christmas that year, to arrive during a Chiefs bye week.

The couple announced the pregnancy that July in a joint Instagram video set to Bruno Mars’ Count on Me, with Patrick captioning it that the crazy life they were living meant nothing without his family keeping him balanced. The family also has two dogs, Steel and Silver.

All three children have become regular, recognizable presences at Arrowhead Stadium, cheering on their father throughout the season, and Brittany has spoken about how motherhood has reshaped her outlook, telling Yahoo Entertainment that everything she does now connects back to creating a future her children can be proud of.
