Both Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu scored as the Super Falcons of Nigeria claimed an impressive 2-0 victory against Comoros.

It was a hard victory for Augustine Eguavoen who took charge of his first match after being appointed the interim coach of the women’s national team.

The game started with the Super Falcons in front of their opponent. The visitors maintained a strong defensive wall which did well to push back.

Nigeria used both wings to try and make something in the encounter while pressing forward. However, it wasn’t working out for them as they face resistance.

While the Africa giants were doing all the pressing, the Comoros Women’s national team were in no rush to push forward or commit themselves into more attacking.

The match remained balanced between both Women’s national team who came into the game with a lot of expectations from their end.

Before the game, the Comoros Women thrashed Sudan 30-0. However, they couldn’t do much against the number one team in Africa.

Augustine Eguavoen was mostly seen in the touchline giving out instructions and hoping the see his side took the lead in the match.

Michelle Alozie came close to scoring after a beautiful low strike, but it wasn’t good enough as the goalkeeper make a perfect save.

Rasheedat Ajibade also came close, but her strike hit the post as play carried on between both teams. There was nothing much from the visitors who struggled to test Chiamaka Nnadozie.

The first half of the Olympics qualifiers match came to an end with both teams settling for a 0-0 scoreline before heading for the break.

There was so much work needed from the Super Falcons who were the better of both teams since the first 45 minutes of play.

The Nigeria women’s national team wasted no time in breaking the deadlock once the second half commenced. Michelle Alozie scored with a well taken chance which made it 1-0.

Gift Monday made the assist after heading down the ball for incoming Alozie who was able to score in the 48th minute of the match.

The match carried on with Comoros Women’s Goalkeeper pulling off an incredible save to deny Alozie from scoring a brace in the match.

It did not take long before the scoreline became 2-0 through Uchenna Kanu. Jennifer Echegini delivered a wonderful corner kick which was headed in by Kanu.

The header was well placed to increase the scoreline in the 60th minute. There was nothing much aside missed opportunities before the encounter came to an end.

Comoros Women’s national team were no match as the Super Falcons of Nigeria cruised to a 2-0 victory after 90 minutes of action.

The victory gives the Falcons a good advantage ahead of the second leg which will also take place in same Stadium as tonight’s match.

Comoros will hope to see if they can make a comeback or bow out from both legs for the Women’s Olympics qualifiers despite thrashing Sudan 30-0.

It is a good win for the Nigeria women’s team after their horrible experience at the just concluded WAFCON which also saw them missing out on the 2027 World Cup.
