Joao Pedro scored twice as Chelsea bounced back to winning ways after losing against Tottenham and Juventus, to beat AC Milan 3-0 as pre-season preparations carry on.
It was a good game for the Blues who dominated play against Ruben Amorim side that was left running around without anything to make for themselves.
Coming into this match, Xabi Alonso had a different approach playing a 4-4-2 formation which was different from other games that has been played.
Chelsea already lost back-to-back against Tottenham and Juventus due to late goals. However, this game against Milan was a different show.
The Italian side were not bad themselves as the game commenced. Both teams were equally match and did well enough pushing forward in search for the lead.
Soon, the Premier League side gained control and started making some dangerous which their opponent did well enough to push back and defend well.
There was opportunities from both ends, but nothing was happening as both goalkeepers showed they were up to the task by pulling off incredible saves.
The match entered the 40th minute with still nothing separating both teams as they kept on knocking at each other defense with no answer for them.
However, Joao Pedro broke the deadlock with the last minute of additional time of the first half. The Brazilian headed in from a nice delivery which saw things turned 1-0.
The goal was enough for both teams as the first half came to a conclusion with Xabi Alonso’s men showing so much improvement from their two previous games.
There was more to play as Ruben Amorim made some changes while trying to make sure he gets more from his side who couldn’t do any damages in the first half.
The game was smooth for Chelsea as they wasted no time in doubling their advantage in the 46th minute through Joao Pedro who was assisted by Pedro Neto.
It was a 2-0 scoreline with the wonderful teamwork efforts which saw Neto deep assist met by Pedro who was able to get it past the goalkeeper.
The pressure was still in the game despite the scoreline. Chelsea were not slowing down as they needed to show more against AC Milan who became a bit slow and running out of ideas.
Another goal came in the 50th minute through Moises Caicedo who scored from outside the box in a dramatic fashion hitting with the front part of his boot to make it 3-0.
It was an outstanding goal for the Ecuadorian who everywhere on the pitch. The action did not stop despite the pace dropping a bit from both teams.
Numerous opportunities presented itself for both teams, but none could hit target as the match came to an end with Chelsea claiming a 3-0 victory against AC Milan.
The victory was well deserved for Xabi Alonso after seeing his side suffer from late goal loss against Tottenham and Juventus, despite them dominating play all through.
Chelsea attention will turn into their next fixture as the new season is fast approaching. The World Champions need to get everything in place before their opening game of the season which won’t be an easy one.
