South Africa defeated South Korea 1-0 at the Monterrey Stadium on Wednesday night, clinching a historic spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup knockout rounds for the very first time.
It was a memorable game for the Bafana Bafana thanks to Thapelo Maseko goal which was enough to make history for his national team as they advanced to the next round.
Entering the tournament, expectations for Bafana Bafana were tempered by a grueling opening 2-0 defeat to group leaders Mexico. However, under the guidance of manager Hugo Broos, the side displayed remarkable resilience.
