Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola insists his side should have a great desire to win the Champions League despite whatever happens with their two-year UEFA ban, MySportDab reports.
Guardiola has also rubbished suggestions Manchester City will have to use a possible Champions League ban as continued motivation when they play Real Madrid.
The City Boss believes their ban from UEFA’s elite competition will not be in their minds as they face a team known as “the Kings of Europe”.
But Guardiola also declared that his team should have enough desire to win this competition, which Manchester City have never won.
He said: “There is no new motivation, even if it’s the last chance, the desire has to be there, without that it’s absolutely impossible. More than that it’s another match, that’s all.
“This group of players will have plenty of chances, I know we play the kings of Europe, I know the challenge we face but in the same time it’s not our last one.
“Unless you die and there’s no other chance you know there’ll always be another opportunity. We play two match in the first one we try to be ourselves and have a good game.”
It has been difficult to escape the long shadow of a possible two year ban despite reports of an appeal by the Manchester Club.
MySportDab understands The reigning Premier League champions have stated they will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne and Guardiola once again expressed his confidence they will win the case.
“We have every right to appeal, I trust the people in my club, they explain everything, they showed me all the arguments and the proofs,” the Catalan continued.
“We are hopeful that finally if we deserve to be in the Champions League we try agai next season, if it doesn’t happen we have to accept and move on.
“But let’s we what happens with CAS.”
While at Barcelona, Pep Guardiola never lost here at the Bernabeu. But with Bayern Munich, he lost 1-0 at the Bernabeu and 4-0 in Germany in the 2014 Champions League semi final.
