Arsenal are plotting a shock move to offload injury-prone defender this summer, MySportDab reports.
The Gunners are still firing on all fronts, qualifying for the Champions League round-of-16 as table toppers in the league phase, leading the Premier League title race with a four-point gap, securing their EFL Cup final ticket, and are into the next round of the FA Cup.
However, this quadruple -chasing campaign for the Gunners has come with ominous setbacks with key players missing due to injuries.
Head coach Mikel Arteta admitted that these incessant injuries are likely to derail to he team’s chances of a likely quadruple and behind-the-scenes moves are being made to curtail their impact, per insider sources.
According to Football Insider, the title-chasing London club is now considering parting ways with Riccardo Calafiori due to his recurring Injury incidents.
The report claims concerns have been growing about Calafiori’s injury record, hence the option of a premature end to their collaboration with the player.
Things are understood to have gotten worse between the player and the club when his expected return in the FA Cup match against Wigan was delayed with a new blow during warm-up.
Calafiori has played 19 of Arsenal’s 24 Premier League matches this season, racking up 1,347 minutes, but could be the second defender to be shown the exit door after Oleksandr Zinchenko due to mounting injuries.
