Barcelona continued their perfect start to the 2026/27 LaLiga season with an exciting 5-2 victory over Real Betis at Estadio La Cartuja on Saturday to maintain their position at the top of the table.
Lamine Yamal starred with a brilliant opening goal and an assist, while Rodri, Gabriel Jesus, Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo also scored for the visitors.
The win gave Hansi Flick’s team nine victories from nine league matches, keeping Barcelona at the top of the table with 27 points.

Real Betis scored through Valentin Gomez and Ez Abde but struggled to stop Barcelona after Facundo Bernal received a straight red card in the second half.
The visitors started strongly and took the lead in the 10th minute through Lamine Yamal. The young winger moved inside from the right before curling a superb left-footed shot into the top corner.
Jules Kounde provided the assist, giving Barcelona an early 1-0 advantage. However, Real Betis responded well and made life difficult for the visitors as play carried on.
Their pressure paid off in the 27th minute when Valentin Gomez headed home from close range. Pablo Fornals supplied the cross after collecting a rebound on the right, bringing the home side level at 1-1.
The host grew in confidence after the equaliser and nearly took the lead through Hector Bellerin. The defender found space during a counterattack, but Joan Garcia produced an excellent save to deny him.
The visitors regained the lead in the 41st minute. Fermin Lopez delivered a corner, and Rodri rose above the Betis defence to score with a powerful header, making it 2-1.
The host thought they had equalised again before the break when Giovani Lo Celso scored with an impressive volley from outside the penalty area.
However, the goal was ruled out after a VAR review found that Cucho Hernandez had handled the ball earlier in the move. Barcelona went into half-time leading 2-1.
Gabriel Jesus thought he had scored shortly after the restart, but his first effort was ruled out for offside. He made no mistake in the 51st minute, finishing from close range after a fine pass from Yamal to extend Barcelona’s lead to 3-1.
Real Betis responded almost immediately in the 53rd minute, when Ez Abde finished a fast attack after receiving a through ball from Lo Celso, reducing the deficit to 3-2.
The game then took another turn when Bernal was sent off in the 54th minute for headbutting Yamal during a confrontation. The midfielder received a straight red card, leaving the home team with ten men.
Lamine Yamal was also booked in the aftermath. Barcelona made their numerical advantage count in the 62nd minute with another wonderful goal scored.
After Yamal’s shot was blocked, Pau Cubarsi headed the ball across goal for Eric Garcia to finish from close range, making it 4-2.
Dani Olmo completed the scoring in the 81st minute with a fine right-footed shot from outside the box, assisted by Cubarsi which further put the scoreline far away from reach.

The Champions continued to create chances, with goalkeeper Alvaro Valles making saves to deny Anthony Gordon and Olmo. Xavi Espart also missed the target with a late effort.
Play carried on until the end of additional time which confirmed the three points from a 5-2 victory away from home to continue their impressive run this season.

The 5-2 victory keeps Barcelona top of LaLiga with 27 points from nine matches. Their attacking form remains impressive, with 39 goals scored in the league so far.
Real Betis remain on 19 points after their first nine matches and will need to recover quickly ahead of their next fixtures.
Although they showed attacking quality, defensive errors and Bernal’s dismissal made it difficult to compete with Barcelona in the closing stages.
The Champions will take confidence from another strong attacking display, especially Yamal’s goal and assist which played a huge role in securing the important victory after 90 minutes.
