Tijjani Reijnders has opened up about his decision to move from Manchester City to the Saudi Arabia professional League this summer window.
The midfielder was linked with a number of clubs who wanted to make a move happen during the summer transfer window.
However, he opted for a move to Saudi Arabia League where a number of European players have been moving to for a while.
Tijjani Reijnders pulled out of his stay with Manchester City due to lack of playing time which wasn’t guaranteed under Enzo Maresca.
During his time with Pep Guardiola, the game time was limited until it was clear that he could continue to see less playing time under the new management.
The move was one which the player decided to make for his future after he officially retired from active football.
According to Touchline, they confirmed the comments which was made by the Netherlands international.
“Once my playing career is over, I don’t want to have to work anymore.
“Of course, I probably wouldn’t have needed to work anymore after my contract at Manchester City either, but this move allows me to secure the future of the next generations of my family.
“I’m not going to lie about that. By signing this contract, I can make sure even my grandchildren are financially secure, so why wouldn’t I do it?”
The decision is one which the player was happy to make for his future despite still being admired by top clubs in Europe. The 28-year-old signed a five-years contract which is worth €100 million in total package.
He is currently enjoying life in Saudi Arabia League side, Al Qadsiah where he continues to do well providing assists and scoring goals.
Tijjani Reijnders is expected to spend a long time playing in Saudi Arabia after signing his contract which is just running under it’s first year.
