Guinea-Bissau claimed an historic 3-0 against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the ongoing AFCON 2027 qualifiers match.
The home side put out a fantastic plan which shutdown the Eagles all through the 90 minutes of action as they secured three points.
It was a fair start for both teams who pushed in search of the lead which would go on to increase their points to six.
The home side did well enough to gain control and dominate the match against their opponent who struggled to hold their own.
Guinea-Bissau did well enough to push and almost took the lead very early in the match. Nigeria were unable to do much as everything was above their control.
The host gained more ground and continue to break free on counters, but they just couldn’t put their final touches together as the match carried on.
Franculino scored in the 15th minute of the encounter which made things 1-0. It was a stunning goal which Stanley Nwabali could not make any attempt to save.
Action continued with all pressure on Eric Chelle and his players who needed an answer as they went down once again in their second game.
There wasn’t anything the Super Eagles could do as their opportunities failed to provide them any goal that would change the scoreline.
The second half resumed with Eric Chelle making some changes which saw Frank Onyeka and Taiwo Awoniyi being removed from play.
Despite the changes, there was still nothing yet happening for the Nigeria national team who looked out of ideas to level things.
The scoreline became 2-0 in the 66th minute after Baldé broke free and beautifully tucked the ball into the far bottom corner.
Guinea-Bissau stadium burst into celebration knowing their three points was secured against one of Africa biggest teams.
Meanwhile, there was nothing different the visitors could do as they continued pushing and hoping to make something count.
George Ilenikhena had a moment, but it was well-saved by the goalkeeper as the resulting corner kick was wasted by the visitors.
As the match carried on into the final minutes of additional time, the scoreline increased further to 3-0 for the home team.
Djaló scored another beauty which was the last action as Guinea-Bissau claimed a massive 3-0 victory against Nigeria at home after 90 minutes.
Following the loss, Eric Chelle will be having a difficult qualifiers which only one team can make it out of the group of four.
The Eagles stay in second with three points, while Guinea-Bissau sits at the top with six and five goals without conceding any after two games.
Nigeria won’t find it easy as they need to make sure they catch up to avoid missing out on the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
