Paris Saint-Germain put out an outstanding performance 2-1 to claim the UEFA Super Cup title beating Premier League side, Aston Villa who are the Champions of Europa League.
Luis Enrique claimed his 13th trophy as manager of PSG which officially saw him broke the all-time record to become the outright most decorated manager in the club’s history, overtaking Laurent Blanc, whom he had previously tied.
It was a massive game for Unai Emery and his Villa side after enjoying a wonderful 2025/2026 season which saw them claiming the Europa League title at a time nobody expected much from them.
Villa went into the match without Morgan Rogers who recently completed a move to Chelsea. While for the Parisians they had their full squad including players who took part in the World Cup.
The match commenced with both teams having a go at each other. It was a match both teams needed to win by any means possible to enable them put them name in the record book.
PSG dominated play, but they couldn’t make something count with their dominance. Aston Villa were equal to the task at hand despite knowing they field a lesser quality side.
Kvaratskhelia was able to break the deadlock in the 20th minute which made it 1-0. Desire Doue played a big role for the goal which he assisted with the Georgian making it count.
Villa pressed back, but they couldn’t make anything of their own going forward in the match. The scoreline stayed the same as they approach the 40th minute mark.
Madjo scored a stunning goal in the 45th minute which saw the scoreline turned 1-1 between both teams. McGinn made the assist for the goal as both teams finished level after 45 minutes.
The second half was filled with more action from both teams, they dug deep and pushed with everything possible to make sure they made something happen.
PSG kept on with their dominance and look much sharper than the Premier League side who lack a lot. Despite the difference in control and dominance, the game looked balanced.
Some changes took place with fresh legs, including Ousmane Dembele coming on to make some difference. The Ballon d’Or winner wasted no time in making an impact.
He setup Desire Doue who scored a wonderful goal in the 61st minute which made the scoreline 2-1. Following the goal, Villa responded with everything they had going forward.
Unai Emery knew it was time to push more by making some changes both tactically and individual, to see if they could get themselves back into the match.
Aston Villa pushed but nothing work for them before the match came to a conclusion with PSG claiming a 2-1 victory which saw them lifting the UEFA Super Cup title.
Luis Enrique makes it another title as he continues to enjoy success with the Paris Saint-Germain side he took over after a failed move which could have saw him become Chelsea manager.
Unai Emery failed to produced another magic as he saw his side lost narrowly against the European Champions despite giving all their best to get something else.
PSG are Champions once again after beating Villa to win the UEFA Super Cup. The trophy adds yet another one to their cabinet as they continue to dominate Europe with back-to-back Champions, and now the Super Cup.
