Hull City put out a masterclass performance which saw them dismantle Michael Carrick’s Manchester United 2-0 on their return to the English Premier League after so many years away.

The encounter came as a shocker to Michael Carrick who saw his side already trailing behind 2-0 after 45 minutes of action. It wasn’t an expected outcome at the very early stage, but the devils tried to organize themselves all through the match.

Hull City started the match in fast pace which caused some confusion for Manchester United who couldn’t cope with what the newly promoted Premier League side were doing.

It was expected to be a one sided match, but that wasn’t the case with early opportunities coming for the Tigers. United managed to hold their own until they picked momentum going forward.

The game became balance with both teams creating and also doing well enough to ensure they stayed in the match. Hull City struck the opener through Semi Ajayi in the 17th minute to make it 1-0.

It was an unbelievable moment from a corner which saw the Nigerian defender coming through with a well place strike from the loosed ball to give his side the well deserved lead going forward.

There was so much confusion for the Manchester United team after letting themselves concede such a goal which could have been handled easily if they were paying close attention.

When it was looking like it would get better, Nobel Mendy doubled the advantage in the 38th minute after a well delivered assist from Slater which made the scoreline 2-0.

It was Dreamland for the newly promoted side who held on to their advantage before the first half came to a conclusion. There was so much on Michael Carrick’s mind coming into the second half of the encounter.

The panic button was hit as Marcus Rashford was rushed into the match before the second half resumed. Carrick needed more from his team with the early change which wasn’t expected.

Despite the changes, there was still nothing happening for United. The game carried on with more changes like Youri Tielemans taken off for Kobbie Mainoo in the  67th minute.

Andrey Santos was also taken off as Benjamin Sesko was brought in to add more pressure against the Tigers who stood their ground as the match carried on hitting the 70th minute mark.

Meanwhile, Hull City made four changes with the last one happening in the 71st minute. The plan was to make sure they contain their opponent and make sure their lead was well secured with more minutes left to play.

The action was none-stop as the devil’s kept on searching for a spark which wasn’t coming for them despite all efforts and changes which the fans expected a goal for their team.

Patience was running out with the home side frustrating every efforts that was put in by the Manchester United attackers who were very desperate to land themselves back into the match.

The match entered the final 10 minutes of normal time with nothing coming through. It wasn’t looking good for the away fans as they kept on watching how their team struggle to put anything good together.

Manchester United failed on every attempts they made in the match which came to a conclusion with Hull City claiming a massive home victory 2-0 and three points to get their Premier League campaign on the go.

It wasn’t the best of result Michael Carrick was expecting after the massive signings they made already this summer. United failed to produce anything good for themselves all through the 90 minutes of action.

Carrick reacted to the loss saying: “Some of it was okay; there’s bits to improve on. It was never going to be perfect, but going behind and giving ourselves a lot to do makes it more difficult.”

“It was a typical one of those games, with a newly promoted team at home. You can’t give them much; they’ve got a lot to hold on to.”

“After that, we had moments and opportunities, but we didn’t have the spark to put the chances away or create any more.”

“We’re bitterly disappointed with the result, but we won’t let it knock us.”

Meanwhile, Hull City will take this one as a positive start to what they will be expecting to be a good season in the Premier League. They would also hope to survive the season with having to face relegation.
