Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of midfielder Jude Bellingham from Birmingham for a reported £25m, MySportDab reports.

The English International completed his medical on Thursday in Germany after Dortmund convinced him to join the Bundesliga club instead of Manchester United.

MySportDab understands that Birmingham will receive a £25m fee up front, with other fees included as add ons in the transfer deal.

Bellingham said: “I don’t know how to thank Birmingham for everything they did for me since the age of seven.

“I wish everyone associated with Birmingham the best. Once a blue always a blue.

“I’m also incredibly excited to have joined one of biggest European clubs. The way they play and how they have helped young players to develop made it a decision for myself and my family.

“I can’t wait to play in front of all the fans when they are back in one of the best football stadiums in the world.”

Bellingham only signed his first professional deal with Birmingham this July.

He hopes to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, who signed for Dortmund in 2017 and has now become one of the best players in the German Bundesliga.

According to Sky Sports, Dortmund monitored the midfielder for more than two years, amid competition from clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

Borussia Dortmund Sporting director, Michael Zorc, confirmed Bellingham will play in the first team: “Jude confidently chose BVB and, was concerned with the sporting idea that we showed him.

“He has potential that we plan to develop with him over coming years. He already has a huge amount of quality with and off the ball, Jude also has a good mentality.”

Bellingham will wear the No 22 Jersey for Borussia Dortmund next season.
