Chelsea Sign Morgan Rogers: Blues Shock Arsenal To Reach Full Agreement

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to finalize the signing of England International Morgan Rogers amid talks with Arsenal.

The World Champions have stunned the Premier League by securing a verbal agreement to sign Aston Villa’s star attacker in a blockbuster deal worth £117 million.

With the Blues effectively hijacking a deal that had long seen Arsenal positioned as the clear favorites for the 23-year-old’s signature, they will be looking forward to adding more top players.

The transfer is poised to become one of the most expensive in Premier League history, reflecting Rogers’ meteoric rise at Aston Villa since making his move.

Despite Arsenal’s sustained interest and their status as league champions, Chelsea’s aggressive financial approach has proved decisive. According to reports, the deal includes a long-term contract structure, with the player expected to sign a 6+1 year agreement.

David Ornstien confirmed the agreement saying: “Chelsea reach verbal agreement with Aston Villa to sign Morgan Rogers.

“Bid of £117m accepted by Aston Villa and being finalised. “6-years plus an additional one year contract, medical Monday.

“Arsenal Football Club interested but 23-year-old attacker wanted Chelsea move; Xabi Alonso instrumental”.

Rogers is scheduled to undergo his medical examination this coming Monday as the final administrative hurdles are cleared for him to make his dream move.

While Arsenal had prioritized Rogers as a primary target to strengthen their attacking options, the player ultimately signaled a preference for the project at Stamford Bridge.

The influence of key figures within Chelsea’s sporting setup, including tactical input credited to Xabi Alonso, is believed to have played an instrumental role in swaying the England international’s decision.

Aston Villa’s negotiating position had been incredibly robust, largely due to a contract extension Rogers signed as recently as November 2025, which tied him to the Midlands club until 2031.

This long-term commitment allowed Villa to demand a premium valuation, pushing the final fee past the £100 million mark which was a hurdle that Chelsea proved most willing to clear.

This signing serves as a powerful statement of intent from the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership group, which has maintained a high-spending path since taking control of the club.

Arsenal are expected to turn their attention on other available options in the market. The Gunners, having already moved to sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, as they look to defend their Premier League title.

With a verbal agreement now firmly in place, the focus for Chelsea will shift toward integrating their new marquee signing into the squad ahead of the upcoming pre-season campaign.

Morgan Rogers will be expected to arrive for his medical after England’s third place match against France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will go down today Saturday.
