Rosenior Rejects Palmer’s ‘Everything Changes’ Narrative As Chelsea Fight For Europe

Liam Rosenior has come out to disagree with Cole Palmer’s recent comments concerning changes with the team, whether Chelsea qualifies for the Champions League or not.

The World Champions’ recent loss against Manchester United pushed them further away from finishing among the five UEFA Champions League spots that are available for English teams.

Other teams like Aston Villa and Liverpool did Chelsea no good by claiming victory in their games, which puts them further away from the top five.

Before the game against Manchester United, Cole Palmer gave an interview in which he said that ‘everything changes’ if Chelsea fails to qualify for Europe’s premier competition.

Cole Palmer said: “I believe in what the club are doing. Hopefully, I and we can win a lot.

“If we’re not in the Champions League, a lot changes. Everything changes, really.”

However, Liam Rosenior disagrees with the comments made by the England international while insisting on no changes to the plan they have.

Rosenior reacted: “I actually got sent Cole’s interview. I thought it was an outstanding interview by someone who cares about the football club.

“Not everything changes — but what I don’t want to do is sit here and talk about us not qualifying for the Champions League, because we’re still fighting for it.

“The reality is, does everything change? No. The plan, in terms of what this team needs and what we need to be successful, doesn’t.

“The context around that does. So, money, especially finances, that type of thing.

“We’re all aligned, regardless of whether we’re in the Champions League or not, and what this team needs, long-term, to be successful.

“So everything doesn’t change; it just makes it a lot easier if we are in the Champions League.”

The 41-year-old isn’t in full agreement with what Cole Palmer had to say concerning their situation, as he explained himself and his plan in whatever situation they find themselves.

Other teams, including Brighton and Hove Albion, had the same plan of building young players, but they also made sure the experience was there with top players.

However, in Chelsea’s situation, they lack that top player quality and experience, which would help gel them together as a consistent team that can compete at the highest level.

There have been some talks that those in charge of transfers are looking at changing their approach when it comes to new signings as the summer window approaches.

Liam Rosenior and his Chelsea side remain focus for the current season as they go up against Brighton and Hove Albion next at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night.
