It promises to be a cracker as Arsenal wage battle with familiar foes and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in this Champions League round five fixture tonight at the Emirates Stadium, MySportDab reports.

The two teams are comfortably occupying the top spot in the Champions League standings, following their perfect starts to their campaigns in Europe’s top-tier. They are also top of their domestic league standings. Who is likely to blink in this top-of-the-table clash? Let’s get into the details!

Form and Head-to-head Analysis

Arsenal demolished Slavia Prague 3-0 in Prague in round four to continue their perfect start, thanks to Mikel Merino’s second-half brace. They followed that up with a 2-2 draw against Sunderland in the Premier League and then put North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the sword with an impressive 4-1 victory at the weekend.

Since their Premier League round three defeat to Liverpool in August, the Gunners’ have gone on a rollercoaster ride in their next 15 games across all competitions (W13, D2). Can they sustain this terrific momentum against Bayern Munich?

Bayern Munich will enter this match on the back of a thumping 6-2 victory over Freiburg in domestic league action at the weekend. Vincent Kompany’s charges have been in the form of their lives this season.

They have yet to taste defeat, posting a stunning 17-1-0 record across all competitions. This includes a statement 2-1 away victory over defending champions PSG in their last Champions League outing.

They have clashed with Arsenal 14 times in the Champions League since 2000, winning eight, and drawing three. This includes four victories and a draw in their last five meetings with the Gunners.

Team News and Prediction

Arsenal are still grappling with Viktor Gyokeres’ hamstring and Martin Odegaard’s knee blow ahead of this match. However, Odegaard has been tipped to return for the clash.

Brazilian duo Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Magalhaes have been ruled out with ACL and hamstring blows, respectively.

Bayern Munich will do without their Paris hero Luis Diaz, who remains suspended for his red card against PSG. Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala are also out with injuries, with Serge Gnabry a doubt due to a knee blow.

Prediction

Bayern Munich have dominated Arsenal in their recent five meetings. The Bavarians haven’t only enjoyed an absolutely remarkable run this season, but proved their mettle with a shock away victory against defending champions PSG despite playing with 10 men from the first half. We are backing them to win or draw this match.
