French attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku’s transfer future is once again on the balance, MySportDab reports.
The former RB Leipzig player has been a shadow of himself since his move from RB Leipzig to Chelsea in 2023.
From niggling injury problems to stiff competition for a starting role, he has found game time hard to come by at Chelsea.
Since last summer, the 27-year-old was link to a possible exit from the Blues for a new chapter due to his dwindling fortunes at the Cobham club.
This summer, the Blues new manager Enzo Maresca hasn’t mince words to clear out the dead woods in his over-bloated squad with Nkunku among top names to be shown the exit door.
MySportDab understands a number of elite clubs both in the Premier League and other top leagues in Europe have been on the heels of the player to sign him this summer.
Manchester United were a big mention among these suitors but it appears United’s interest has waned after their recent recruits into the midfield role.
His former club RB Leipzig have also been linked to him with the Bundesliga side reportedly ready to re-sign him to his base this summer.
However, they were understood to be in for a stiff competition with arch-domestic rivals Bayern Munich. The latter are understood to have taken their move for Nkunku a step further by beginning talks with Chelsea for him.
Recent reports claim the Bundesliga champions have advanced in the negotiations and could close the deal soon.
However, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed both Chelsea and Bayern Munich are still miles away from reaching and agreement for Nkunku.
The report also added that negotiations are expected to continue with Bayern Munich optimistic of sighing the player.
Before joining Chelsea, Nkunku totaled 47 Bundesliga goals plus 43 appearances for RB Leipzig and could prove a big addition in Bayern Munich’s attacking midfield options.
